Barlens Awarded Rental Company of the Year

MEDIA RELEASE
Thursday, 25 May 2023

Your local event hire company, Barlens, has been named Rental Company of the Year – Events Division in the Hire and Rental Industry Association’s (HRIA) National Hire Industry Excellence Awards for 2023.

The win is no small feat for the locally owned and grown business operating for over 58 years. The annual Awards pay tribute to the exceptional service and innovation standards displayed throughout Australia’s hiring sector.

The HRIA is the critical national industry body representing Australia’s AU$8bn hire and rental industry. Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Barlens CEO Peter Taylor said everyone in the Barlens family is “chuffed” by the win.

“This accolade is a testament to ourteam’s work and dedication. Recent environmental factors, such as the pandemic saw many businesses in our industry shut their doors. The team at Barlens remained proactive, adapting our service offerings and logistical systems to provide testing clinics and drive-through structures within a 24-hour notice period.” Mr Taylor continued.

“I want to thank our staff and long-standing customers for their part in our business’s ongoing growth and success. Barlens’ customers are a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and exceptional service every member of the Barlens team provides.” Concluded Mr Taylor.

Christmas lunch 2020 style

Uh oh, it’s your turn to host the whole family for Christmas? Don’t panic! A little bit of extra prep and planning will make sure (almost) everyone’s needs are covered: the kids’, the grandparents’, and most importantly, yours.

We’re here to help take the stress out of this year’s planning so you can leave all the drama to the in-laws!

Calm host, happy guests

Christmas should be a time to unwind, laugh, share, and fill your belly.

The more you can coordinate beforehand, the less hassle you’ll experience on the day. Head online and decide on your choice of colourful umbrella, simple eziup, or marquee in virtually any size – to protect your guests from the elements.

Hire a 1.8 rectangular table, Bentwood chairs, or padded white folding chairs for extra comfort, along with a classic linen tablecloth as your design canvas. Decide on a central table display – gum leaves, flowers candles, baubles, tinsel – then add crockery, glasses, cutlery and platters.

Hearty feast

If you have all your furniture and catering gear delivered, all you need to do is focus on cooking up a delicious feast – most of which can be done beforehand and kept warm.

Enhance your kitchen capabilities with a gas roaster on wheels (plenty of space for more than one turkey), a Bain Marie to keep everything piping hot, or even a mobile cool room to keep the fridge uncluttered.

Games and silliness

Keep the kids happy (and out of the way) with their own special table. The children’s timber table can be teamed with children’s timber chairs. Fold serviettes into some quirky shapes and throw some toys on the table. Better yet, cover the tables with paper so the kids can draw and scribble.

Encourage backyard games for the littlies and the biggies with giant Jenga, Connect 4 or Cornholes.

Santa ‘Barlens’ Claus

Our Christmas gift to you? Barlens can take care of the cleaning. You heard that right!

Simply rinse all of the catering equipment (plates, glasses and cutlery) so no food remains (no need to wash it up) and pop everything back into the provided tubs – we’ll take care of the rest.

Need a Christmas party venue? Sorted!

After such a tumultuous, uncertain year, it’s time to let your hair down at a fabulous 2020 Christmas party.

But wait… are you having trouble finding a venue? Have you left it late due to unconfirmed numbers and uncertain dates? Not sure how to juggle the changing parameters of COVID-19 restrictions?

Well, we’ve got the perfect solution for you: a marquee.

Build it and they will come

Create your own distinct venue where and when you want it. Hire a reliable Barlens marquee and you can set it up virtually anywhere – at your workplace in an outdoor space (even the carpark!) or at a colleague or partner’s backyard. Maybe the boss will be happy to host?

We’ve got so many options for a flexible canopy, pagoda or fully enclosed structure. And sizing variations will suit any expected crowd size.

Plus, with weather uncertainties now the norm (hello, La Niña), you can hire heating or cooling options to prepare for all possibilities.

Once you’ve found the perfect spot, it’s then time to get creative with theming and styling.

Style it right

You don’t have to break the bank with styling. Find inspiration on Pinterest or our website for popular colour themes or focal areas.

Ideally, set up a few different, well-spaced zones for social interaction. Allow the team to spill outside with some comfortable areas for play – you can hire Jenga, Connect 4 and Cornholes to inspire some healthy workplace competition. Dot some colour inside or outside with low Tolix stools in red and green.

Set up a curved bar for the beverage zone, with classy New York bar tables and simple Tolix stools sprinkled throughout the marquee, and a checkered dance floor for the musically-inspired.

If you plan to cater, you can hire anything from large barbecues to platters.

We can help you pull together your plan. Talk to Barlens today to get your Christmas party sorted.

Get ready to celebrate your students in style

While end-of-year school celebrations may need to look a little different in 2020, you can still inject style, sophistication and safety into your festivities!

For many organising committees, finding a venue is no longer an option due to social distancing restrictions. So how about hosting your celebration at school instead? Public Health Directions now allow end-of-year events to take place on school grounds.

Prom night

Formals, graduations, farewells: they’re all milestones worth celebrating. It really is a wonderful time for students to frock up, buy a corsage, and take loads of photos (#memories). And the kids won’t feel like they’re at school if you create a special, unforgettable party atmosphere.

A marquee can provide a ready-to-go venue. With so many size and style options, you can choose a marquee to suit your numbers and your available area. Plus, our marquees can go virtually anywhere on school grounds. Why not set up on the oval, in the carpark, in the hall, or on the basketball courts?

Create the atmosphere

Then the fun really begins with styling. Hire tables, chairs, lighting and decorate with flowers, balloons and platters.

Wonder what’s trending now for styling the perfect tween or teen party? We can assist with the latest in theming, catering ideas, giant games or even rolling out the red carpet!

And be sure to organise a dedicated (socially distanced) arrival point for the paparazzi (aka, mum and dad) to get the best shots.

Teachers, you’re the stars

After one of the biggest and most challenging years for teachers, it’s also time to think about how to wrap up their year in style. You just need a little ingenuity and planning to get the tone just right for a fabulous in-house function with all the trimmings. We can help get you started.

Remember, all our options are customisable to suit your needs.

Rapid Development Structures In Response To COVID-19

In a time of undeniable uncertainty, we understand that businesses are at risk. There are a variety of unique circumstances effecting your daily operations. From recently increased compliances with the health departments, to lack of storage or warehouse space available to meet increased orders for the current demand.

Barlens are already working with a variety of Australian departments and businesses to roll out temporary structure solutions to the rapidly changing requirements. Below is a brief outline of how we are already assisting Australians and their businesses.

Medical assistance stations

With the recent impact of COVID-19, there is a high demand for virus testing stations in both a drive through and walk in clinic capacity around Australia. Using a vinyl structure means that we can pull the walls off, clean them and then reinstall in a minimal amount of time.

Barlens also  can install hard wall (shell) structures to act as pop up/temporary hospitals to combat the additional space requirements associated with higher patient numbers. These structures can be customised to suit your needs and are the perfect solution as opposed to the traditional brick and mortar buildings that can take months to install. The hard shell structures look like a traditional building from initial glance and can include windows and multi-story options as shown below.

Hospitality kiosks

Many local businesses have been affected by the changes in regulations surrounding COVID-19, especially the hospitality industry. Moving to takeaway only options and essentially altering the way in which they do business altogether. Barlens has been working closely with many of these businesses to install temporary kiosks to assist with these changes, this includes but are not limited to:

  1. Pickup stations that are equipped for social distancing
  2. Order packing site sheds
  3. Customer queuing stations

All of these structures can be installed in a variety of sizes and shapes to meet your demands. Click here to see an example of a drive through station recently installed.

Commercial warehouses

When supply might not meet demand, or production is rapidly increased without much notice/time to prepare, you may require an alternative space to store your stock. This space will understandably have a list of requirements that are unique to your business, potentially including, but not limited to:

  1. High  ceilings
  2. Temperature control
  3. Lockable and/or roller doors
  4. Elevated flooring
  5. Multi-evel layout
  6. Shelving capacity for stock management

These structures can be installed almost anywhere, from the car park out the front of your already established warehouse, acting as an extension, or located on an external property.
